To join, email us on law@upsu.net - or check out our facebook event - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=327782296195&ref=mf
Can't come? You can still help out by donating! Every penny counts.
We seem to get quite mixed turnouts for our socials - we've had anywhere between 25 and 150 for each event.
How often do you guys actually want?
What sort of socials do you want? More pub crawl/ clubbing nights?
Or something a little different?
We don't mind sorting it, but it isn't going to be free, and we can't afford to be vague on numbers as it has a huge impact on costings.
Cheers,
Sean

As part of our drive to promote commercial awareness within the law school we intend to launch a business simulation competition - you get virtual funds to invest. Do so wisely, get more. Based on real life market data.
Biggest earner for the period of the competition wins.
Details and where to access this program to follow shortly.
If you are interested in taking part, just let us know @ law@upsu.net so we know what we're dealing with.
Cheers!
Election time is nearly upon us - just after Easter you will have the chance to elect your law soc committee for 2010/2011 (term effective after the current committee graduate, transition period to make handover smooth inbetween).
You should hopefully see some slides on this appear in your lectures shortly.
If not, I have attached the slides - I think they are self explanatory, but feel free to email questions to law@upsu.net as always.
Hi all,
Please find attached to this post the flyer for the CV/ Covering Letter Comp 2010 again.
I have had low take up so far, which is a shame as the prize is phenomenal - not often you get the chance of a Mini-Pupillage with a major chambers handed to you on a plate.
One of you WILL get a week (starting 2nd August) at Ely Place Chambers.
Please read and follow rules in the pdf flyer attached to this post - no email entries.
You will need to be logged in to see the attachment.
I am in the process of arranging a Southern Varsity Moot for Semester 2.
This is likely to be a tort law moot, taking place just before or after Easter.
This would involve 2 teams from each of Sussex, College of Law, Brighton, and Portsmouth.
It would be knockout style 8-4-2-1 hopefully with a trophy at the end.
If you are interested in taking part, please notify us of that interest at law@upsu.net with any relevant mooting experience.
Cheers,
Sean
Alex, Lynsey, Rob and Jack have now made quite a splash with their negotiation success.
They are set to appear in next week's Pugwash students newspaper, as well as being added to the homepage of port.ac.uk on Thursday.
Keep an eye out!
The London Legal Walk is arguably the biggest event in the fund-raising calander.
Arranged by London Legal Support Trust, London Legal is a 10km walk through London starting and ending at the strand.
The walk, which last year raised £390,000, is supported by many of top legal minds.
This year, the legal profession will walk 10km on May 17th 2010 to raise funds.
Confirmed walkers include:
The Rt. Hon Lord Judge
The Lord Chief Justice
The Rt. Hon Lord Neuberger
The Master of the Rolls
Robert Heslett President of the Law Society
Six of the Portsmouth Law group including Miss Hollie Lynes, Miss Jennifer Lawrence, Mr Nicholas Pervin, Mr Adam Farhadian-Griffiths, and Mr Rob Dalford braved the cold last weekend to raise money for London Legal Support Trust.
The Trust supports the work of voluntary legal advice centres, delivering much needed legal advice to those in need whom cannot afford to pay for a lawyer. This includes legal advice centres, citizens advice bureaus etc.
It's a very niche but incredibly important charity, and one that is rarely in the public eye beyond the legal community.
